Recruiting and Training
With our customized security programs and continuous officer training, Nationwide Guard Services has the capabilities to meet virtually every kind of security that you might need, both short and long term.
All applicants for your area will be interviewed and hired from our Rancho Cucamonga corporate office. We only recruit applicants within the areas we serve. With this being said, all of the officers working for EMWD will be familiar with the area and in close proximity if any additional services are requested.
Nationwide strives for diversity in the workplace. Because of this, we always try to have at least one officer that is bi-lingual on site. We see this as a distinct advantage due to the Southern California workforce being so diverse and multi-national.
Nationwide Guard Services, Inc. recruits applicants through many outside sources including, but not limited to job fairs, internet-via jobbing.com, newspaper advertising, CalJobs, and various government agencies.
TRAINING AND SCREENING
All security officers are licensed and regulated by the State of California, Bureau of Investigation Services Division and the Department of Consumer Affairs. No individual may work as a contract security guard without a valid license. The process to become licensed involves training with verification by way of a state mandated test, submission of fingerprints, and a State and Federal criminal background check performed by the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
Nationwide Guard Services, Inc. prides itself on the training and experience of all staff members. All security officers are to have a minimum of 40 hours of on site supervised training before they are solely responsible for a post. Training is mandatory and is site specific. Security officers on site can expect to have monthly reviews, screenings and additional testing to stay up to date with corporate policies and all Local, State and Federal regulations.
Supervisors and Management are required to attend the same trainings and testing as the security officers on site. Our supervisors are required to be fully trained and licensed at all times. Along with basic training, all supervision personnel will undergo management, problem solving and communication classes throughout the year. This training is to ensure that if a problem arises, they can deal with the situation in a professional and timely fashion.
This commitment to quality recruitment, hiring and retention means less turnover for our clients, and a more qualified, professional force of officers and management.
One of the most important components of serving your security needs is providing the most qualified security officer possible. Nationwide’s selection process is one of the most rigorous in the industry.
Since our primary service to our clients is providing security officers for first response to extreme issues, we employ intense screening, interviewing and testing techniques. Some of the techniques Nationwide use to ensure top quality officers are:
- The California Guard Card Test: Even candidates who hold a valid California Guard Card are re-tested by Nationwide Guard Services, Inc. personnel prior to having them join the team
- Department of Motor Vehicles Check: We conduct a complete DMV background review of every candidate to ensure our future officers have a safe driving record and are free from any outstanding violations.
- BSIS Security Guard Training Course: Nationwide Guard Service, Inc. has an in house training center that is certified thru the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Training courses include CPR, First Aid, report writing, powers to arrest, supervision, management training, terrorist threats, and public relations just to name a few.
Reference Checks: Nationwide Guard Services checks past employment reference on all new hires, regardless of certifications. We ensure all applicants are of the highest quality and have excellent references from prior employment.
Drug Testing: All Officers are required to submit to testing for illegal substances before being hired on with Nationwide Guard Services, Inc. at a federally approved lab.
- American Tescor: Nationwide Officers are given a pre-screening test to analyze their decision making abilities, safety awareness and overall awareness of security related issues before ever being assigned to a location.
